Bosola and the Cardinal

Cover for A213A (Carl's group) for Friday morning's double:

You are to compare the two main encounters of Bosola and the Cardinal. You need to Review Act 1 Sc 1 27 – 65, the first short interaction between the two characters.

What is the main difference between the tone of the encounters?
Who holds the upper hand in each?
Both are men who hold double lives. How do they wear this mantle?Referring the Act 5 Sc2, respond to the following statement: the Cardinal’s ennui is the ennui of everyone who runs out of steam living two lives or living by double standards? How far do you agree with this statement?

Othello...

Please ensure you are up to date with all your Othello essays, I still have some outstanding and need to get them marked by the end of the week. We need to track your progress in preparation for the exam.

Secondly as this is a closed book exam, I will be banning the use of Othello texts for essay practice after Easter, so you WILL need to re-read the text over the holidays and become familiar with key quotes.

Thanks
Mrs Gibbons

Due to a family crisis, Brian will be unable to run the Othello session tomorrow at the Westbury Centre.

You must attend lessons as normal. We'll see what we can do to offer a session some time in the future!

Absence on 22/03/10

I'm visiting the kind people at Homerton hospital today to have my shoulder re-examined. Therefore, I won't be in your lesson.

However, I'd like you to finish the comparative essay you began last Monday in lesson time - Between the holy sonnet and A Hymn to God the father. You needn't work in the classroom, but could find yourself a quite place to write or type it in its entirety.

You should bring it with you next Monday for our perusal.

Thankyou for the letters rolling in, who however, was the student who failed to place a postage stamp on their envelope? Carl maybe? Am i jumping to conclusion again Carl?

Regards,

Mr. D
